The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been named winner of the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award, in recognition of its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability.
The award was presented by Verbatim Magazine at the 2026 Verbatim Awards in Abuja, organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The NDIC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday, was represented at the ceremony by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms. Hawwau Gambo.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Corporation said it earned the honour after finishing second overall in the ICPC’s 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS).
The EICS is an integrity assessment framework developed by the ICPC to promote ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices in the public service.
It evaluates Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in four areas: Management Culture and Structure, Financial Management System, Administrative Systems, and Anti-Corruption Initiatives.
The ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, was represented by the Director of the Systems Study and Review Department, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, who delivered the keynote address.
Titled “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity,” the address was the centrepiece of the event.
Accepting the award on behalf of Sunday, Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for basing its recognition on the ICPC’s independently validated integrity scorecard.
She reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance in carrying out its mandates of deposit guarantee, bank supervision (in collaboration with the CBN), failure resolution and bank liquidation.
Gambo said the award reflected the Corporation’s sustained efforts to maintain the confidence of stakeholders in the discharge of those mandates.
The NDIC said that as it continues to protect depositors, build confidence in the banking sector and contribute to financial system stability, the recognition serves both as an affirmation of its achievements and as an incentive to deepen compliance with the highest standards of professionalism, excellence and public trust.
