Nigeria Police, ICDL To Collaborate On Cutting-edge Technology-based Policing
All is set for a collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and the International Certification for Digital Literacy ICDL, to improve the information and communication technological skill sets of officers of the Force for improved policing.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed the outcome of a recent meeting between the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and Mr. A.U Mustapha, SAN, the Chairman of E-Tech Complete Solutions Ltd, local operating partner of ICDL.
TheFact Daily gathers that the meeting, in line with the Police Chief’s vision to entrench cutting-edge technology-based policing into the Force, as well as empower personnel with specialized skills to maximize the use of ICT for improved investigations, discussed partnership between the NPF and ICDL, especially scientific investigation, operations, and data gathering intelligence activities.
IGP Baba, while assuring the foundation of effective partnership to equip NPF’s ICT units, further confirmed the procurement of additional top-notch ICT gadgets and softwares, the establishment of more forensics laboratories and units, as well as training of specialists and forensics experts to man the acquired assets judiciously to meet the present demands and challenges of insecurity in the country.
The Inspector-General of Police reemphasized his administration’s commitment to the engagement and application of cutting-edge technology and international best practices to policing functions at all levels so as to strengthen the Force’s capacity in stabilizing the nation’s internal security apparatus.
The ICDL Chairman, Mr. Mustapha, acknowledged the IGPs drive for digital literacy and ICT skills, and assured of his enterprise’s cooperation to achieve coordinated and effective action in driving security development in Nigeria.
