NPF, NCoS In Collaboration To Strengthen Criminal Justice System

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS), have held talks centered on enhancing cooperation between both institutions for efficient crime prevention and strengthening the Nigerian Criminal Justice System.

The meeting held on Friday when the the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, received the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi, and other senior officers of the Service, at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

At the meeting, Acting CG Ndidi elaborated on the Service’s ongoing rehabilitation and reformation processes, aimed at transforming correctional facilities into centers of rehabilitation rather than mere confinement.

He also mentioned the NCoS’s initiative to develop an updated criminal database to ensure a comprehensive record of offenders and their respective offenses, which will enhance the efficiency of the correctional system.

The IGP, reinforcing the shared vision of both agencies to ensure the overall effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System, pledged the commitment of the Force to working closely with the NCoS towards achieving shared goals.

In another development, the Inspector-General of Police also received a courtesy visit from senior officers of the ASP Course 22/2005 who clocked 20 years in service, at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The IGP, during the visit, congratulated the officers on their journey so far and encouraged the officers who serve as role models, to always show commitment to upholding the rule-of-law, integrity, accountability, transparency and justice, which forms the core values of policing.
