Following strict adherence to zoning, which the people of Obudu Local Government Area do not play with, the position should go to Obudu Urban Ward Two, and aspirants from that Ward have been consulting intensely for the plum job.

But indications have emerged that those who have been frequent guests of anti-graft agencies because of their closeness to the former governor are demanding that the position should be given to them as compensation for their loyalty and stress.

A Permanent Secretary and former Director in the Ministry of Works is said to have joined forces with these close associates of the former governor to insist that his name should be forwarded to the Governor, Prince Bassey Otu, for the position because he has suffered too much for the former governor.

The problem is that the said permanent secretary does not come from the ward that is next in line to produce the next chairman of Obudu Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, the people of Obudu, who are known for their stubbornness when it comes to their political rights, may not accept the unusual nomination with their folded arms. Thank God the Governor believes strongly in zoning.
