
The latest Report by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), shows that the nation imported about 5.9million litres/d of petroleum in March 2026, relative to the 3million litres imported in February 2026.
The NMDPRA Factsheet Report for March 2026, released on Tuesday, contains figures that provide key insights into market performance, supply trends and sector dynamics for the period under review.
According to the Factsheet, domestic supply of Petrol dropped to 34.2million litres per day in March 2026, from the 36.5million litres per day recorded in February 2026.
The report also revealed that the petrol consumption rate in the country dropped to 47.3 million litres per day in March 2026 from the 56.9million litres per day recorded in February 2026.
It disclosed that the Dangote Refinery supplied about 34.2 million litres per day to the domestic market in March 2026, from the 48.2 produced in the same period under review.
According to the report, the daily supply of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel, also dropped to 10.3 million litres per day in March 2026, from the 24.4 million litres per day supplied in February 2026.
The report shows that both domestic and import supply of diesel dropped in March 2026 respectively.
While the domestic supply of diesel dropped to 3.9 million litres per day in March 2026, from the 8.8million litres recorded in February 2026, import supply of the product also dropped to 6.4million litres in March 2026, from the 15.6million litres per day supplied in February 2026.
The report has it that the consumption of the product also dropped to 14.5million litres per day in March 2026, from the 20.3million litres per day consumed in February 2026.
It disclosed that the Dangote Refinery supplied 2.2million litres per day to the domestic market in March 2026, from the 16.5 million litres per day produced during the period under review.
The three modular refineries in the country: Walter Smith, Edo Refinery and Aradel, supplied an average of 0.629 million litres per day of diesel in the month of March 2026.
On the production status of the Port Harcourt Refinery, the report said while operations remained shut down, evacuation of diesel produced while the refinery was operational averaged 0.048 million litres/day.
