Police Rescue 13 Trafficked Victims, Arrest 3 Suspects

Police operatives attached to the Kaduna state Command, have arrested three suspects caught trafficking 13 persons in Oyo state.

In a statement on Sunday, the Police Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the arrest follows intensified crackdown on various sorts of organized crime and crimes against persons, particularly human trafficking and kidnapping.

According to him, the trafficking suspects, identified as Samson Peter, Haruna Duniya and Abdulazaq Olawole, were travelling in an unmarked vehicle when they were intercepted at around
7 p.m on Friday, 31 January 2025. While the victims were successfully rescued, investigation is ongoing.

Similarly, on January 29 2025, Police operatives of the Ogun state Command conducted a covert operation and located a den of the kidnappers responsible for an earlier reported abduction on January 25 2025.

Upon sighting the operatives, the gang engaged the security operatives in a gun duel that led to the neutralization of 5 of the gang members and the successful rescue of the 3 kidnapped victims.

Items recovered by the operatives include arms and ammunition of various calibres, 3 mobile phones and the cash sum of N5.2 million. Also recovered, were the vehicles of the kidnapped victims.

While commending the operatives for their exhibition of gallantry, dedication to duty and patriotism, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, further encourages all police officers to remain relentless towards the goal of achieving peace.

He also reassures members of the public that the Police Force remains committed to effectively combatting all security threats.
