By Sunday Etuka

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has confirmed notable improvement in power generation nationwide, attributing it to the repair and restoration of the vandalized Lagos-Escravos-Lagos gas supply infrastructure.

NISO said the repair work which was carried out by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) has enhanced the gas supply to several key thermal power plants across the country.

The System Operator said the development was a positive step toward stabilizing the electricity supply and improving grid reliability for consumers nationwide. Noting that gradual power offtake was being carried out by the affected plants to ensure a smooth recovery and maintain the stability of both the gas supply network and the national electricity grid.

Assuring that it remains committed to sustaining these improvements and ensuring a reliable, efficient, and resilient power system that supports Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
