Shettima Leads Nigerian Delegation To Ethiopia For Nutrition Leadership Exchange

Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja on Tuesday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will lead Nigeria’s team to a government-to-government exchange on speeding up nutrition delivery.
This was disclosed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.
Nkwocha said the Vice President is attending on the invitation of Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, who is championing the country’s multi-sectoral approach to improving nutrition.
As head of the delegation, Shettima will take part in the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit. The forum is meant to let key stakeholders share experiences on building a compact on nutrition across federal, state and local governments.
During the visit, the Nigerian team will learn from Ethiopia how a government-led plan can improve nutrition delivery. It will also tour key facilities dedicated to boosting nutrition across the country.
Scheduled stops include a wheat farm and a banana plantation in Oromia, the “Bounty of the Basket” Training Centre and household visits in Mojo, and Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
Nkwocha said the Vice President is accompanied by the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, and his Jigawa State counterpart, Umar Namadi.
Others on the trip are the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; and the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Zubaida Umar Abubakar.
According to Nkwocha, the Vice President will return to Abuja after his engagements in Addis Ababa.
