Soludo Attack: Peter Obi Condemns Incident, Urges Security Beef-up
Vice presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election under the People’s Democratic Party, and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has condemned the attack on a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Charles Soludo.
Soludo was attacked by unknown assailants yesterday in his Isuofia community, Anambra state while meeting with youths. The incident left three policemen who were guarding him, dead, while the state Commissioner of Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was with him at the even was whisked away by the hoodlums.
Obi, taking to his official Twitter handle, @PeterObi, said, “The reported attack on Prof. Charles Soludo in which some security agents were killed stands condemned. Political violence should have no place in the democratic process in Anambra State. The Ballot and not the Bullet should determine the outcome of our elections”.
He further urged that security be ‘stepped up, and the culprits fished out and prosecuted to serve as deterrents to copycats”.
