The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an urgent maintenance exercise at its Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation, which will lead to a temporary power outage in parts of Abuja.
In a statement issued on Friday by the TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance work would take place today, July 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The company explained that during the three-hour exercise, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to supply electricity to customers connected to Wuye 1 and 2 Injection Substations.
Other areas expected to be affected include Idu Railway Station, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office, the Coca-Cola Company premises, Idu Industrial Zone, Citec Estate, and parts of Life Camp.
TCN apologised to customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the outage may cause, assuring that power supply would be restored immediately after the successful completion of the maintenance work.
