TCN Commissions New Power Transformer At Afam Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Port Harcourt Region, has commissioned a new 150 MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at its Afam IV Transmission Substation in Rivers State, doubling the station’s transformation capacity from 120MVA to 240MVA.

According to TCN, the new transformer significantly boosts transmission capacity to the load center of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company’s (PHEDC) enabling the DisCo to offtake more electricity for onward distribution to electricity consumers in Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs.

The company said the project forms part of the ongoing TCN-World Bank power projects aimed at strengthening the nation’s power supply and reflects continued efforts to expand transmission infrastructure and improve power availability for consumers in the region.
