Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained intensified offensives against terrorists and criminal networks in Katsina State, recording major successes across Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Dutsin-Ma and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.
The Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja said on Sunday that the operations, conducted on May 9, 2026, led to the neutralisation of three terrorists, the recovery of arms and rustled livestock, as well as the arrest of suspected drug traffickers during coordinated security raids.
Acting on intelligence that fleeing terrorists from recent operations in Dikawa were moving along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma corridor, troops of the 171 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) FUDMA laid an ambush on the route. During the ensuing gun battle, three terrorists were killed, while troops recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, one motorcycle, three cutlasses and assorted charms.
In a separate clearance operation targeting terrorist hideouts in Matazu, Musawa and Kankia LGAs, troops, supported by the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, raided enclaves at Torcachi, Giginya and Tashar Ganji villages. The terrorists reportedly fled under heavy military pressure, abandoning their camps.
Troops subsequently recovered 175 rustled livestock, now secured in military custody pending handover to relevant local authorities in Matazu LGA.
Meanwhile, troops of FOB Malumfashi, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), carried out a targeted raid at Kauyan Dawo in Malumfashi LGA, leading to the arrest of six suspected drug peddlers.
The suspects were identified as Sani Rabiu, Umar Nasiru, Abulkubus Aminu, Abdullahi Halilu, Abubakar Rabiu and Abubakar Dahiru.
Security operatives also recovered 82.5 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5 and 1.8 grams of D5 during the operation. The suspects and seized narcotics have been handed over to the NDLEA Malumfashi Area Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North West, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
