Viral Whatsapp Voicenote Alleging Planned Fulani Invasion False – Lagos Police
The Lagos State Police Command has termed as false and mischievous, a viral WhatsApp voice-note alleging a planned attack by Fulanis on Badagry.
This was contained in a statement issued Wednesday, June 8, 2022, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
TheFact Nigeria gathers that, according to the voice note, the Fulanis are allegedly camped in Muhammadu Buhari Estate, Agemowo, Badagry, in readiness for a massive attack on Badagry.
The Command, while stating in unequivocal terms that the content of the voice-note is entirely false and mischievously designed to cause unnecessary panic within Lagos State, noted that there is a Police Divison close to the estate – Morogbo Divison.
The Command further said that there is also a Police Post next to the estate – Mowo Outpost, adding that Police presence and intelligence gathering in the area is top notch.
According to Hundeyin, the Divisonal Police Officer of Morogbo visited the estate again Wednesday, inspected the entire facility and had an exhaustive session with the facility manager, all in a bid to be double sure that the claims are false.
“The outcome of the operational visit lends credence to the futility of the voice-note”, Hundeyin said.
The Command therefore, while enjoining all residents of Lagos State to disregard the voice-note, conveyed assurances by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, that, the Police Command, in synergy with sister
security agencies is fully prepared to nip any criminality in the bud and would leave no stone unturned in ensuring continued peace in the State.
