By Miriam Humbe, Abuja
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has said that until there was fair assess to safe and effective vaccines, all nations of the world are vulnerable to Covid-19.
For this reason, UNICEF has expressed its readiness to make two billion vaccines available to 190 countries across the globe.
On its official Twitter handle, @UNICEF wrote: “All countries are vulnerable to COVID-19 until there’s fair access to safe and effective vaccines.
“Through COVAX, UNICEF will make 2 billion doses of vaccines available to people in 190 countries this year.
“The light at the end of the tunnel must shine for all”.
In September 2020, UNICEF had announced that it would lead the procurement and supply of Covid-19 vaccines in world’s largest and fastest ever operation of its kind.
To achieve this, UNICEF said that it would work with manufacturers and partners on the procurement of vaccine doses as well as freight, logistics and storage of Covid-19 vaccines on behalf of global COVAX Facility.
