World Teachers’ Day: Alia Pledges Continued Support For Benue Teachers

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has assured teachers in the state that education will remain a top priority of his administration, as he joined the world in marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day on Monday.

The governor congratulated teachers across Benue and described their contribution to the education and development of the state as invaluable.

He said this year’s theme, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,” is a reminder of the lasting role teachers play in building generations and shaping the future of communities and nations.

According to him, his administration’s recognition and support for teachers are central to making meaningful progress in the education sector.

He stressed that standing with teachers must go beyond words and include practical steps that allow them to do their work with confidence and dignity.

The governor pointed to the recruitment of teachers into public schools and the renovation of schools across the state as part of efforts to create better conditions for teaching and learning.

He said improving school facilities while strengthening the teaching workforce reflects the government’s commitment to giving children in Benue a more conducive learning environment.

Governor Alia noted that the quality of education today will directly affect the human capital and opportunities available to the next generation of Benue citizens, which is why education will continue to receive priority attention.

While appreciating teachers for their dedication and sacrifices, he urged them to remain committed to their noble profession and to continue nurturing the minds and talents of young people across the state.

He wished all teachers in Benue a happy World Teachers’ Day.
