Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and a civilian abducted in Imo State have been rescued during an intelligence-led operation involving the military, Department of State Services (DSS), police and other security agencies.
The victims were abducted while travelling through the state, prompting security agencies to launch a coordinated operation to locate and rescue them.
Security sources said on Wednesday that the victims are currently receiving medical attention at a DSS facility, while efforts are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the abduction and apprehend the suspects involved.
The successful rescue highlights the growing use of intelligence-led joint operations by security agencies to tackle abduction and other criminal activities in the South-East.
