Kebbi Police Arrest Five Suspects, Recover Diverted Consignment

Police operatives attached to the Kebbi State Police Command have arrested five suspects for buying products diverted from a Lagos-based company.

The Command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this on Thursday.

He explained that the company, Springfield Agro Limited, had on 20th May, 2025, reported to the police about an unlawful diversion of its consignment of 1,925 cartons of Roundup 360XL Herbicide, valued at the sum of N184,800,000. The consignment, which was destined for Suleja/Abuja, was diverted to Birnin-Kebbi without the company’s authorization by the truck driver, one Alhaji Bala, now at large were reasonably suspected to have been sold at significantly reduced prices by unregistered dealers.

A team of detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, conducted swift investigative action which led to the tracing of the stolen items and arrest of the following suspects: Nura Abdullahi, Nura Muhammed, Bashar Abubakar, Sanusi Bojo all of Birnin Kebbi town, and Aliyu Muhammad of Kashin Zama village, Aliero LGA.

The detectives also successfully recovered the sum of N4,905,000 suspected proceeds from the illicit sale and 1562 cartons of Roundup 360XL Herbicide as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, who applauded the professionalism and swiftness of the detectives, urged them to intensify efforts in trailing and arresting the company’s driver, Alhaji Bala and Alhaji Danladi Maitaki AKA Danbatta, who are still at large, for further investigation.

He further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCID to conduct a discreet investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the arrested suspects.
