Kaduna Government Mourn Bantex, Declares Monday Work Free Day
Kaduna Government has declared Monday work-free in honour of late former Deputy Governor Arc Barnabas Bantex.
The work-free day was announced on Sunday in a statement by Governor El-Rufai’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye.
TheFact Nigeria reports that Bantex died on Sunday in Abuja at the age of 64. He served as Deputy Governor from May 2015 to May 2019.
He stepped down to seek the senate seat for Kaduna South Senatorial district on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost to PDP in the 2019 general elections.
Before 2015, Bantex had served a two term mandate in the House of Representatives as a member representing Kaura Federal Constituency.
In 2015, the deceased joined the APC and became the deputy governor of the state untill 2019.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai had formally announced the death of the former Deputy Governor in a statement he personally signed.
He said Bantex gave his best to the State despite his health challenges.
According to the statement by Adeleye:”Malam Nasir El-Rufai has sent a personal message of condolence to the family, noting that it was a blessing to know Bantex and to work with him.
“The Governor acknowledged his commitment to the progress of Kaduna State and prayed God to grant him peaceful repose and to comfort his family.”
