Auto Crash Claims 11 Lives On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
At least 11 persons have been burnt beyond recognition in an auto crash that occured on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogere Remo-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident which occured late Saturday, 2 July 2022.
TheFact Daily gathers that 3 vehicles, which were involved in the crash – two Mazda buses and one unknown vehicle – collided near the Isara bridge, Ogere Area of Ogun State, causing a fire to erupt.
According to Okpe, “a total of 18 persons were involved but only seven were rescued while 11 unidentified people were burnt beyond recognition”.
She further disclosed that of the seven rescued persons, who also sustained injuries, five were male adults, while there was one female adult and one male child.
“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention. One of the victims was rejected, but finally taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan” she said.
It was learnt also, that the Fire Service in Sagamu was contacted and the impact of the crash was obstructing the Ibadan-Lagos bound of the expressway.
“Traffic has been diverted to the Lagos-Ibadan route and the crashed vehicles are still burning.
“Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, obey traffic rules and regulations and also cooperate with traffic managers managing the situation”, Okpe added.
