The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the posting and redeployment of senior ranking officers of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said, the move, which affected Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs), was in line with the IGP’s manpower development policy of “placing round pegs in round holes”.
Some of the affected personnel include:
DIG Danmallam Mohammed, who has been redeployed to the Department of Finance and Administration, as well as some AIGs who have been posted to take up the duties and responsibilities of the DIGs in charge of various Departments of the Force.
According to the deployment order, AIG Hafiz M. Inuwa heads the Department of Training and Development; AIG Aji A. Janga, Department of Research and Planning; AIG Adeleke A. Bode, Department of Operations, while AIG Habu Sani Ahmadu has been posted as Force Secretary, and AIG Shuaya’u Lafia Abdulyari assumes office as the AIG in charge of the Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Similarly, the following senior police officers have also been posted to take up the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of Zonal Police Commands: CP Matthew Akinyosola, AIG Police Mobile Force; CP Jonathan Towuru,
AIG Zone 6 Calabar; CP Sylvester A. Alabi, AIG Zone 2 Lagos; CP Akande Sikiru Kayode, AIG Zone 11 Osogbo, and CP Abimbola Adebola Shokoya,
AIG Zone 17 Akure.
Furthermore, and in line with his mandate and strategies to strengthen the operational structures of State Commands, the Police Chief has equally ordered the provisional posting of Commissioners of Police to various Commands, pending the approval of the Police Service Commission, PSC.
The personnel and their Commands are: CP Adebola A. Hamzat, for
Adamawa State; CP Emeka Frank Mba for Ogun State; CP Suleiman A. Yusuf for Taraba State and CP Idowu Owohunwa for Lagos State, while CP Faleye E. S Olaleye heads the Ebonyi State Command.
The IGP has charged the newly posted officers to hit the ground running to ensure effective compliance of the mission, vision, and policy statements of his administration, in the areas of crime-fighting, public cooperation, and safety.
He also called for support and cooperation from members of the public to enable the newly posted senior officers to perform optimally on their mandate.
The posting is with immediate effect.
