Healthcare Delivery: FG Trains Staff On Revenue Enhancement, Management

In an apparent move to improve service delivery and provide a sustainable healthcare system to its citizens, the Federal Ministry of Health has organised a two-day workshop to train heads of accounts of health institution/agencies on revenue enhancement and management.

The workshop, which was organised by the Finance and Accounts department of the ministry held from Tuesday, March 21 to Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in Abuja.

It was tagged “Revenue Enhancement and Management as a catalyst for sustainable healthcare delivery in Nigeria” and had in attendance heads of accounts of institutions/ agencies in the health sector from across the country.

During the workshop, one of the facilitators, Mrs. Jummai Abdullahi, averred that the primary purpose of government establishment was to improve quality of life for the ctizens.

To achieve government plans, ministries/agencies were established to provide services to the people and the aims/objectives must be met by the officials of the establishment.

In addition, she said that the workshop was aimed at training the participants towards identifying service gaps and management failures in the health institutions and agencies and to develop strategies, solution and systems that will close the gaps created due to failures and lead to quality service delivery system in Nigeria.

This, she added could only be achieved through accountability, collaboration, team building strategies, envisioning the future, encouragement of knowledge and contribution through team work.

Another facilitator, Mohammed Arab Kolo who spoke on Team Building for Productivity and Development stated that, the most effective teams share information openly, participate in the team’s task, encourage each other and use all of the team’s resources for the progress of their organisation.

He said, in addition to the problem solving process, teams must also engage in interpersonal interaction, adding that decisions are made and objectives are achieved not only by effectively following the problem solving process, but also to the extent that team members share information in an open, candid, honest, and trustful manner.

Some of the trainings included Internal Audit Procedures and Management, Identifying service gaps and managing service failures in Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Stakeholder management in public office, Revenue management among others.

The participants, during the interactive session, said the workshop would have a great positive impact in performing their duties.
