INEC To Investigate Alleged Electoral Fraud In Kogi State
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it would investigate the allegation of fraud and irregularities in the conduct of ongoing gubernatorial election in Kogi State.
INEC officials in Kogi State were accused by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of carrying pre-filled result sheets at some polling units in the state, a situation described by the party as unacceptable.
TheFact Daily gathered that the INEC staff were allegedly caught with written results before accreditation at some polling units in the state.
In a swift reaction, INEC said, its senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s) and would communicate its decision earnestly.
INEC in its official X page said,
“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.
“The Commission views this situation seriously.
“Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly”, the electoral umpire said.
