Nigeria Has 40.2m Agricultural Households -NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that there are about 40.2 million Agricultural Households in Nigeria.

NBS in its 2022 National Agricultural Sample Census (NASC) Report released on Monday said, out of this number, 91% practice crop cultivation, while 48% practice Livestock Farming.

NBS said, about 42.5% practice poultry farming, 41.2% raise goats, while about 16% practice cattle rearing.

The Bureau added that about 5% of the Agricultural Households engage in Fishery activities.

Further breakdown of the report shows that 95% of crop producing agricultural households nationwide cultivate cereal crops, while 62% cultivate tuber/root crops.

NBS said, 48% of crop producing agricultural households nationwide cultivate Leguminous crops, while 57% cultivate vegetable crops.

It said, 67% cultivate oil seed crops, 43% cultivate fruits and nuts, 10% cultivate stimulant crops, while 39% others cultivate crops in other groups not listed above.
