Top football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, however claimed that Henry had “decided to terminate his contract” with the team.

Henry, a legendary former Arsenal and Barcelona forward, took charge of the France U21 side in 2023.

His unexpected departure marks the end of his brief tenure with the team after leading them to the 2024 Olympics finals, where they lost to Spain. His France side finished their campaign with a silver medal.

“I have to thank the FFF and Philippe Diallo [president of the FFF], who gave me this amazing opportunity.

“Winning a silver medal at the Olympics for my country will remain one of the proudest achievements of my life.

“I am incredibly grateful to the Federation, the players, the staff and the supporters who allowed me to live out a magical experience”, he said.
