The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that the media reports that former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is in its holding facility are incorrect.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the anti-graft agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale.
Media reports had circulated earlier on Wednesday that the embattled ex-governor had finally honoured the agency’s invitation to its headquarters in Abuja.
According to some sources, Bello was trailed and arrested by EFCC officers in Lokoja at midnight in a sting operation.
However, the EFCC emphasised that Bello was not in its custody, adding that he was already declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges and remains wanted with a subsisting warrant for his arrest.
