The collapse of a storey building located around Ojugbede Jegede Area, Ogbere, in the Oyo state has led to the loss of 10 lives.
The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, in a statement on Thursday, noted that the Service got a distress call around 2am from residents of the area that a building had collapsed trapping many under the rubble. He said rescue operation was still ongoing.
The incident also left 8 others battling with various degrees of life threatening injuries.
According to a statement by the Oyo state police command, adequate security has currently been emplaced in the area to prevent hoodlums from taking over the incident scene, and as well protect the lives and property of other residents within the jurisdiction. It added that “investigation is ongoing at the moment to unravel the possible circumstance that could have led to the incident”.
