Finance Ministry Commends PTDF For Boosting Capacity Of Top Management

The Federal Ministry of Finance has commended the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) for organising a Leadership and Management Masterclass for the Top Management Staff of the Ministry.
Director, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed Manga, in a statement on Tuesday said the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya, while declaring the training programme open, expressed appreciation to PTDF for sponsoring this important capacity-building initiative.
Represented by the Ministry’s Director of Human Resources, Mrs Olusola Dada, the Permanent Secretary, stated that the commitment to strengthening governance through targeted training programs like this is commendable and highly valued.
“I also acknowledge Betterways Nigeria Limited for their role as facilitators and for putting together a program tailored towards enhancing our leadership and management competencies,” she said.
As senior Management Staff of the Ministry, Mrs Jafiya noted, “we are tasked with the critical responsibility of stewarding Nigeria’s economic resources. In today’s rapidly changing and complex global landscape, leadership in public service requires more than technical expertise—it demands strategic vision, adaptability, and the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams toward achieving shared goals.”
She informed that the training program was designed to equip the Top Management Staff with the tools and perspectives necessary to meet these demands effectively.
Over the course of this masterclass, we will engage with best practices in leadership and management, learn from case studies, and gain insights that will enable us to deliver excellence in public service.
The Permanent Secretary underscored the significance of holding the programme now, stating that the country requires Public Servants with such competencies to drive its economic resources for the benefit of the citizenry.
She encouraged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to share experiences and embrace the learning process, saying let us reflect on our roles and how the knowledge gained here can be applied to strengthen the Ministry’s operations, improve financial governance, and, ultimately, contribute to Nigeria’s development.
While acknowledging the sterling leadership of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, in ensuring the realization of the policy objectives of the President Bola Tinubu-led Administration, the Permanent Secretary thanked the PTDF for their generous sponsorship, the facilitators for their dedication, and all participants for prioritizing this important training.
She emphasized that the Leadership Masterclass will provide the Top Management Staff with the requisite skills to effectively drive the nation’s economic resources in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
“I am confident that the outcomes of this program will be invaluable, not just for the individuals present but for the institution we collectively serve. The skills will be adequately deployed to ensure the realization of the policy objectives of government,” Mrs Jafiya emphasized.
The Permanent Secretary, therefore, appealed to PTDF to always consider and support the Ministry in boosting the capacity of staff so as to equip them with requisite skills to steward the country’s economic resources
Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Alhaji Ahmed Galadima Aminu, stated that the Fund embarked on the Leadership Management Masterclass for the Top Management Staff of the Federal Ministry of Finance in order to enhance their leadership skills aimed at stewarding Nigeria’s economic resources for the future of the nation.
Represented by PTDF’s Deputy General Manager (DGM), Alhaji Zanna Waziri, the Executive Secretary assured that PTDF will continue to support the Ministry in boosting the capacity of staff in line with its mandate.
Also speaking, the Group Managing Director (GMD) Betterways, Dr Victor Dare called on participants to share their wealth of experiences and contribute meaningfully to the discussion of Leadership Management Masterclass, stating that the programme was designed to be highly interactive and participatory with the aim of locating the transformative roles of leaders in the economic emancipation of the Nigerian project.
He thanked the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, for successfully stewarding the affairs of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya, for creating an enabling environment for the success of the programme as well as PTDF for sponsoring the programme.
