FG Declares Public Holiday For Eid Celebrations

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, 6 June and Monday, 9 June as public holidays ahead of the
Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration via a statement issued on Monday, June 2, 2025, and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

While congratulating the Muslim faithful both in the diaspora and across Nigeria on the Sallah celebration, Tunji-Ojo also urged them to remain committed to imbibing the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).

The minister described the Sallah period as a time for the Muslim Ummah to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

He also promised citizens that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration is committed to fostering initiatives that would restore Nigeria’s economy and place the nation on a path of progress.
