The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army in enhancing air transport operations, with a focus on welfare flights and logistics expansion.
FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, gave the assurance on Tuesday during a meeting with senior officers of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport in Lagos.
The Army delegation was led by the Corps Commander, Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, who said the visit aimed to strengthen existing ties between both institutions and explore new areas of collaboration.
Shagaya explained that discussions centred on the possible restart of the Nigerian Army Air Freight Company, alongside plans to introduce welfare flight operations for personnel.
He noted that the Army is seeking FAAN’s cooperation to ensure seamless implementation, including the provision of designated holding areas and other support systems for officers and soldiers on connecting flights.
He added that such arrangements would significantly improve travel conditions and overall welfare for military personnel, particularly those deployed across multiple operational theatres.
In her response, Kuku welcomed the initiative and reiterated FAAN’s readiness to collaborate, assuring that the Authority would facilitate efficient and secure operations in line with its mandate of delivering safe and passenger-friendly airport services.
The engagement highlights ongoing efforts to deepen inter-agency cooperation and strengthen logistics and welfare frameworks for military personnel nationwide.
