The Minister of Transportation Senator Said Alkali has instituted a committee to investigate the Abuja-Kaduna train derailment and profer solution to prevent reoccurrence.
The Minister disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement by the Director of Press and Information of the ministry, Janet Noah.
According to the minister, the committee will also investigate the immediate and remote causes of the accident and make recommendations on how to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Also, they are expected to identify ways to enhance the safety and effectiveness of rail transportation.
Membership of the committee were drawn from the Ministry of Transportation, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Civil Society Organization and railway passengers.
Chairman of the committee is Musa Ibrahim (DOOPST), and the secretary is Barr. Omotola Olusegun (Legal).
Others are the managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Engr. I.A Ebuniwe (Inspector Railway), representative of Technics Engineering Architecture Marketing Nig. Ltd, representative of CCECC, representative of Civil Society Organization, one male representing male passengers and one female representing female passengers
