DEPOWA Applauded For Granting Scholarship To Children Of Fallen Heroes

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has commended the Defense and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for introducing a landmark initiative to provide full scholarships to children of fallen heroes.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the IGP gave the commendation while receiving the DEPOWA President and her team in a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
While speaking during the meeting, the DEPOWA President, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, informed that the scholarship would commence with the commissioning of DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy scheduled for September 2026.
She explained that the scholarship would benefit children of fallen heroes and also bolster national cohesion by admitting children from surrounding communities.
Mrs. Musa also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and praised the sacrifices of police officers in combating violent crimes and contributing to international peacekeeping.
The statement said in his response, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting life and property, maintaining public order, and safeguarding democracy.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the NPF remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional mandate while drawing strength from the support of stakeholders such as DEPOWA and other affiliate associations.
