DR Congo, on the other hand, beats Cameroon 1-0 in their semifinal, to set up Nigeria at the final payoff.

The Super Eagles struck just three minutes into the game, with Frank Onyeka giving Nigeria the lead.

The Nigerian bench erupted with celebration, cheers and songs of victory.

However, the celebration was cut short in the 32nd minute, with Elia, of Orlando Pirates, equalising for the Leopards

They dominated possession in the first half, pressing high and forcing Nigeria into defensive errors.

In the second half, Super Eagles, captained by Wilfred Ndidi, struggled to regain its strength as DR Congo’s midfielders orchestrated waves of attacks.

The Super Eagles’ attack, spearheaded by Osimhen, withered when the Galatasaray striker was forced off in the 78th minute due to injury.

his visible frustration was an evidence as he left the pitch in tears.

Substitutes Chidera Ejuke and Moses Simon injected pace, but chances were scarce.

Full time came and went with no further goals, sending the tie into extra time, with both team looking tired.

DR Congo came back during the penalty shoot out to beat Nigeria 4-3 on penalties.

The Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo now advanced to face an Asian or Oceanian side in March 2026.

Nigeria, however, departed with heads bowed but spirits unbroken.
