The Nigerian National Team, Super Eagles, have dramatically climbed to 26th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking released today, marking their highest position in nearly a decade.
The Super Eagles climbed from 38th after an impressive outing at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, where they finished third.
Nigeria’s bronze medal campaign featured strong performances against top African opponents, boosting their continental standing and global reputation.
In the 2025 AFCON tournament, the Super Eagles won six of the seven matches, with their only defeat coming on penalties against hosts Morocco in the semi-finals.
They secured the bronze by defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw in the third-place play-off.
The team now ranks ahead of several notable nations who qualified for the 2026 World Cup, including Algeria, Ghana, and South Africa in the current ranking.
