The Oyo State Police Command has foiled a planned bandit attack on Elebe village, Aleniboro, via Irawo Mine, neutralising two suspects in an intelligence-led operation.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the breakthrough followed credible information from a good Samaritan that about 10 armed Fulani men had concealed themselves in a farm settlement with plans to attack the community under the cover of darkness.
The suspects were reportedly armed with two AK-47 rifles, single-barrel guns and locally made pistols.
The Divisional Police Officer, Tede Division, promptly briefed the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, who ordered the deployment of additional operational assets.

Police operatives, in collaboration with local hunters, mobilised to the hideout. On sighting the team, the hoodlums opened fire, leading to a gun duel during which two suspects were neutralised, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
Items recovered at the scene include one locally made pistol, cartridges, expended 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition shells, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, two mobile phones and a bottle containing a suspected mixed drink.
The area has been secured, while bush combing and surveillance operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for sustained support and logistics, and urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
For emergencies, residents are advised to contact the Oyo State Call Response Center toll-free line 615, or the Command Control Room on 08081768614 and 07055495413.
