Troops Nab Suspected Gun-Runner, Seize 969 Rounds Of Ammunition In Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army (NA) Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have intercepted and arrested a suspected gun-runner during a stop-and-search operation at Sarkin Kudu in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.

6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lt. Umar Muhammad, disclosed that the operation, conducted on February 21, 2026, followed credible intelligence reports.

Vigilant troops on sentry duty flagged down an Audi vehicle with registration number RBC 798 DV (Abuja). After a thorough search, the suspect, Mr. Monday Reuben, 48, from Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State, was arrested.

Items recovered from the suspect include two AK-47 rifles; 197 empty magazines; one box of 7.62 x 51mm NATO ammunition containing 250 rounds; 14 packs of 9mm Parabellum ammunition containing 700 rounds; 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition; the sum of ₦2,440,000; a wallet containing four identification cards and four ATM cards; one Android phone and one Itel keypad phone; a power bank; eight bottles of perfume; a rechargeable torch light; and assorted local charms.

The suspect and the recovered items are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and necessary action.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Micheal Akaliro, commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism.

He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining operations aimed at eliminating criminal activities and safeguarding lives and property across Taraba State.

He also affirmed that the Brigade would continue to enforce its reward and sanction policy, noting that personnel involved in the successful operation would be duly recognized for their dedication and service.
