Monthly Revenue Dashboard Will Reduce Corruption -Group

By Sunday Etuka

Group, under the auspices of the Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has stated that the introduction of monthly revenue dashboards by the federal government would enhance transparency of income and expenditure across the three tiers of government.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe, the group expressed conviction that the move would reduce corruption in the system.

The statement read in part, “We acknowledge that the federal government under the auspices of the ministry of finance has decided to utilize this template to monitor and track the enormous resources that would be accruing to the three tiers of governments following the presidential executive order freeing more oil revenues from the NNPC Ltd, as well as the huge revenues expected from the implementation of the new tax act.

“We agree with the Minister of State for Finance, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite that with the improved finances, there would be productive capital deployment.

“We are also gratified that the three tiers of government would prioritise capital expenditures over recurrent expenditures, investment in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and other productive sectors thereby reducing consumption spikes in the economy.

“The improved revenues would also lead to a reduction in debt profiles of the three tiers of government, enable them to clear accumulated arrears and boost growth-enhancing sectors.”

It expressed confidence that the introduction of the revenue dashboards will help guarantee transparency in the accruing revenues to the three tiers of government, and enable Nigerians to hold the government accountable.
