By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja

The Force New Media Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Aliyu Giwa, has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him following his appointment, describing the role as a sacred responsibility that demands character, commitment and service.

Giwa made the remarks on Thursday in a post on his X account, @aleeygiwa, where he reflected on the significance of his new position and expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

TheFact Daily notes that the appointment of Giwa as Force New Media Officer was recently approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, as part of efforts to strengthen the police’s digital communication and public engagement strategy. The office oversees the Force’s digital platforms and supports strategic information dissemination from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

“I have walked this path long enough to know that appointments do not make men, character does. But I will not pretend that this moment does not mean everything to me, because it does,” he wrote.

The senior police officer thanked the IGP for the confidence placed in him, promising to dedicate himself to the task and prove worthy of the appointment.

“To the Inspector-General of Police, you have placed something sacred in my hands, and I receive it with both. You reached into the ranks of this great Force and said ‘him’. I will spend every day of this appointment proving that you were right,” he stated.

Giwa added that the various postings and experiences throughout his career had prepared him for the responsibility of the office.

“I stand here today not in arrogance, but in the quiet, unshakeable confidence of a man who knows where he has come from and is clear about where he is going,” he wrote.

He also expressed appreciation to his family, colleagues and supporters for their prayers and encouragement, noting that their belief in him remained a source of motivation.

“The work ahead is serious. The responsibility is immense. And I am ready. Watch this space,” he added.
