The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described as false and misleading the reports suggesting that the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, has been suspended from the party.
In a statement on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abduallahi, the ADC said it is unaware of any suspension of the Senator.
Earlier reports suggested that the FCT senator was suspended because of her anti-party activities, insubordination and violation of party rules.
The suspension, according to the reports, was announced by the Wuse Ward Chairman of the ADC, Kanayo Chukwu, during a meeting attended by party executive members.
However, the National Secretary urged the public and the media to disregard the reports.
He explained that as a law-abiding political party, the ADC has clear Constitutional procedures for addressing any allegations involving its members. Such matters are handled through internal mechanisms, not through Press Statements.
