Umahi stated this at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.

He announced that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had already concluded a phase of its investigation, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was expected to begin its own review following an ongoing summit.

“We are not hiding anything because we feel for the people. Any file they want, any information, is available,” Umahi stated.

He assured that all projects follow due process and that every expenditure is justifiable. “There is nothing we do in the Ministry of Works that we cannot defend,” he said.

According to the minister, their contentious transition from asphalt to concrete road construction was a cost-saving measure focused on longevity, asserting that concrete roads would last up to 100 years with minimal maintenance.

Umahi therefore noted that impassable roads effectively isolate communities, and pledged that despite ongoing criticisms, the ministry would continue to deliver durable projects aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
