Oil marketers imported about 18.1 million litres per day of petrol in June 2026, up from 5.9million l/d imported in May, as supply to the domestic market from the Dangote Refinery decreased during the month, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The NMDPRA Factsheet released on Monday showed that total petrol supply to the domestic market declined from 41.5million l/d in May to 32.45million l/d in June. Of this volume, the Dangote Refinery supplied 32.5million l/d to the domestic market out of its total production of 39.1 million l/d.
Despite the lower supply to the domestic market, overall, petrol consumption in the country increased to 47.4million l/d in June from the 46.3million l/d 2026 in May.
The NMDPRA Factsheet revealed that the Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel receipt, decreased from 18.8million l/d in May 2026 to 16.2million l/d in June 2026.
Domestic supply also decreased from 18.8million l/d in May 2026 to 16.2million l/d in June 2026, with zero imports.
Overall, AGO consumption in the country was 16.0 million l/d in June 2026, same as recorded in the month of May 2026.
The report showed that the supply of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas, supplied to the domestic market was 3.6 kt/d in June 2026, down from the 4.0kt/d supplied in the month of May 2026.
Overall, the LGP consumption in the country dropped to 4.1 kt/d in June 2026, from the 4.5kt/d consumed in May 2026.
