Alia, Mutfwang Congratulate Tinubu, Shettima, Yilwatda, Others On Successful APC Convention

The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia and his Plateau counterpart, Caleb Mutfwang, have extended their heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Party (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the numerous faithful members for the successful National Convention.
They Applauded President Tinubu for providing the visionary leadership that ensured the successful planning and seamless execution of the National Convention, held From Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the popular Eagles Square, Abuja.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia expressed optimism that given the overwhelming cooperation exhibited by all party faithful for a seamless process of electing party structures at all levels, the party would continue to record huge success and perpetually grow from strength to strength.
He said: “I heartily congratulate the Leader of our great party and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for providing the visionary leadership that ensured the successful planning and seamless execution of the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held on March 27, 2026.
“The amicable ratification of all proceedings leading to the convention, from the ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, accentuate the strength, unity, and internal democracy of our great party.
“This achievement is an expression of conviction to purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to progress”.
The Governor also congratulated the national chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and all other affirmed party officials across the various levels, on their emergence as substantive leaders of the party.
He charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by party members, urging them to remain steadfast in upholding the integrity, discipline, and sanctity of their offices, while working diligently to strengthen party cohesion and advance the ideals of the APC.
On his part, Governor Mutfwang said: “I express deep appreciation to key national leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, as well as governors and other critical stakeholders and party faithful, for zoning the National Chairmanship position to the North Central region, particularly Plateau State.”
He noted that Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda’s emergence through a consensus arrangement was a clear demonstration of the APC’s commitment to inclusive, people-oriented leadership under the guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly as the nation looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
“I am happy with the maturity and foresight of party leaders and stakeholders who have continued to promote unity, tolerance, and strategic reforms within the party. These efforts have strengthened internal cohesion and ensured a level playing field for all members to pursue their aspirations without rancour.
“I acknowledge the tireless efforts and leadership of Prof. Goshwe since his unanimous adoption in June 2025. Among the key initiatives he has introduced are reconciliation and forgiveness among party members, the reorganisation of party membership through e-registration, and the repositioning of the APC for sustained growth and electoral success.
“I am confident in Prof. Goshwe’s capacity particularly his expertise in digital transformation, energy research, and ICT, as well as his distinguished service as a Resident Electoral Commissioner. These credentials position him to lead the party to a resounding victory in 2027.
“I reassure the party that Plateau State is endowed with competent and capable individuals of proven integrity in public service. I am confident that Prof. Goshwe will foster unity, peace, and progressive leadership within the party, while strengthening its legacy of justice, tolerance, and compassion,” he said.
