Oyo: Group Confident In Safe Return Of Kidnapped Victims

By Sunday Etuka

A pro-government group has expressed confidence in the safe return of students and teachers abducted from two communities in Oyo State, while commending the Federal Government’s response to the situation.

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV), in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, praised President Bola Tinubu for approving a range of security measures following the abductions, which has triggered a widespread public outrage and street protests across the country.

The group acknowledged the recent visit by a high-powered delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the communities as part of ongoing efforts to resolve the hostage situation.

“We believe that with the wide –ranging steps approved by President Tinubu, the President has shown empathy for the victims and demonstrated his administration’s commitment towards guaranteeing the safety of all citizens,” the statement read.

The TMV further described the emergency security measures as a potential stepping stone toward a more permanent solution, saying they were “convinced that while these measures are temporary, they will serve as a precursor for the eventual establishment of state police in the country.”

The group also praised the President’s stated position that no child should fall victim to kidnapping or be denied access to education, describing it as a clear commitment to safety and well being of Nigerian children.

It urged Nigerians to treat security as a collective responsibility and to support the administration’s efforts to confront the challenges.
