By Sunday Etuka

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has notified stakeholders of a planned outage on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

According to a statement by NISO on Saturday, the outage would enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out the connection of the Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the 330kV line.

NISO said Bauchi, Gombe, Yola and surrounding areas should expect an interruption in electricity supply during the outage period. Adding that the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV transmission line would also be taken out of service to ensure a safe working environment for the maintenance activity.

The System Operator explained that OPGW installation was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transmission infrastructure and enhance the reliability, monitoring and communication capabilities of the national grid.

NISO appreciated the understanding and cooperation of electricity market participants and electricity consumers in the affected areas, while regretting any inconvenience the temporary interruption may cause.
