Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have arrested eight suspected terrorist collaborators, including a Sudanese national believed to be a foreign terrorist fighter, and also intercepted a large consignment of materials suspected to be intended for terrorist operations in separate intelligence-led operations across Borno State.
OPHK’s Military Information Officer, Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed this on Monday.
In the first operation, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence, mounted a covert stop-and-search operation along a suspected terrorist logistics route at about 4 p.m. on July 19, 2026. The operation led to the arrest of six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers travelling in five vehicles while conveying materials allegedly destined for terrorist elements.
Recovered items included 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan of suspected acid, a Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps. According to the military, the items have potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, communications, mobility and sustainment. The suspected acid and fertiliser will undergo forensic examination to determine whether they were intended for the manufacture of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
In a separate operation conducted at about 11:48 a.m. on the same day, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, Sector 4, arrested a 32-year-old Sudanese national, Musa Fashir, in Lassa, Dille General Area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area. Military authorities described him as a suspected foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator, saying preliminary intelligence linked him to terrorist elements operating in the North-East.
Troops also apprehended a 36-year-old woman, Mary Florence, who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from the Republic of Ghana. The military said investigations were ongoing to verify her identity, establish the authenticity of her claims and determine whether she had any links to terrorist or transnational criminal networks.
The six suspected logistics suppliers, the two foreign suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for profiling and further investigation aimed at identifying the intended recipients of the seized materials, dismantling the wider logistics network and apprehending other collaborators and sponsors.
Operation HADIN KAI said preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and surrendered terrorist families indicated that sustained attacks on terrorist supply chains had significantly weakened insurgents by creating shortages of food, medical supplies, communications equipment and other essential logistics. The military noted that the pressure had forced many terrorists to abandon hostages, families and enclaves while fleeing ongoing operations.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against terrorists, their financiers, logistics suppliers and collaborators, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the North-East.
