The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced on Tuesday that the issues arising from the invasion and encroachment on the C2 Maitama Substation have been resolved, following sustained engagements and the intervention of key stakeholders.
AEDC Management, in a statement, said the resolution paves the way for the commencement of repair works and resolution of electricity supply to Maitama and surrounding communities affected by the incident, which it described as unforeseen and exceptionally challenging circumstances.
The company expressed appreciation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, for their swift intervention and leadership, which it said were instrumental in achieving the resolution.
AEDC said its technical teams have now mobilised to the site and commenced repair, reinstatement and restoration work on the damaged electricity infrastructure, with efforts underway to complete the work safely and restore power to affected customers in the shortest possible time.
The company thanked its customers for their patience and support throughout the disruption, and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding critical electricity infrastructure and delivering safe, reliable and sustainable power supply.
