EFCC Returns ₦108m Recovered From Ex-Employees To Lagos Company

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over ₦108 million recovered during an investigation into an alleged fraud involving two former employees of Greenwich Planet Sun King Nigeria Limited.
The anti-graft agency on Thursday, said the funds were presented in bank drafts to the company on Wednesday by its Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 after investigations uncovered an alleged scheme involving abuse of office, forgery, stealing and diversion of company funds.
According to the Commission, the suspects—Nkechi Gladys Megai, who is reportedly on the run in the United Kingdom, and Godson Eze, a former Chief Financial Officer of the company—allegedly forged documents, created fake invoices in the names of legitimate vendors and diverted company funds through fraudulent transactions over a period of time.
The EFCC said its investigation showed that the fraudulent payments ran into several hundreds of millions of naira.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Acting Zonal Director of Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, ACE I Bawa Usman Kaltungo, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that victims of economic and financial crimes receive justice and recover assets fraudulently taken from them.
Kaltungo added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend all those linked to the fraud, including suspects who had fled the country, so they could face justice.
Receiving the recovered funds, the company’s legal representatives commended the EFCC for its thorough investigation and professionalism, noting that the recovered money would help cushion the financial losses suffered by the company.
