
Dangote Cement Plc has expanded its alternative-energy transportation programme with the acquisition of 1,500 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks, as the company deepens its decarbonisation and green logistics agenda across its African operations.
The move is aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions, boosting operational efficiency, reducing the company’s reliance on conventional diesel-powered transport, as it continues to embed sustainability into its business model across its ten African markets.
In statement issued on Monday, the cement giant also disclosed progress on its environmental performance, with its Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) rating upgraded to “B” for climate and water management, a development it says reflects growing international recognition of its sustainability efforts.
According to the company, energy optimisation remains a key pillar of its sustainability strategy, with a favourable energy mix contributing to lower production costs while supporting efforts to reduce its carbon footprint across operations.
