The Nigerian Navy has conducted its 2026 Grand Rounds across selected medical facilities to assess healthcare delivery, identify infrastructure gaps and improve medical services for personnel and their families.
Disclosing this on Monday, the NN said the exercise was led by the Director of Medical Services, Surgeon Commodore Momoh Jimoh Salihu, and covered the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, NNS BONNY, NNS JUBILEE, NNS VICTORY and the Nigerian Navy Postgraduate School of Medicine (NNPRS), Makurdi.
During the visits, Salihu inspected medical facilities, interacted with healthcare personnel and addressed concerns raised by naval personnel, assuring them that identified challenges would be forwarded to Naval Headquarters for necessary action.
Discussions also focused on clinical capacity building, quality assurance, medical equipment maintenance and drug abuse prevention, with emphasis on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving service delivery across naval units.
The Director reaffirmed the Directorate of Medical Services’ commitment to providing quality healthcare for naval personnel, their families and host communities, while unit commanders pledged continued support for effective medical services.
The exercise forms part of the Nigerian Navy’s efforts to maintain a healthy, professionally capable and operationally ready force through improved medical infrastructure, personnel welfare and healthcare delivery.
