The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa has welcomed the listing of the Armed Forces College of Medicine and Health Sciences (AFCOM-HS) on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Director, Press and Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
AFCOM-HS was set up to strengthen military healthcare, develop specialised medical manpower and advance national security.

The Minister said the College would provide specialised training for doctors, nurses and other health professionals to strengthen military healthcare delivery and meet critical national manpower needs.
Located within the 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, AFCOM-HS has secured National Universities Commission (NUC) approvals for Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and Nursing Science (B.NSc.) and is preparing to admit its pioneer cohort of 100 cadets.
Dr. Alausa noted that the College would integrate medical education with military officer development, equipping cadets with clinical competence, professional ethics and leadership skills to support the wellbeing of Armed Forces personnel and strengthen national health security.
The Minister commended both the Minister of Defence, Lt General Chris Musa and the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, MON, the Armed Forces leadership, the Technical Working Group chaired by Brigadier General Dr. Idris Babatunde Solebo, NUC, JAMB and relevant professional regulatory authorities for their contributions to the College’s establishment.
He reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to academic oversight, quality assurance and regulatory collaboration to ensure that the College maintains the required standards.
Prospective applicants were advised to consult official AFCOM-HS and JAMB channels for information on eligibility, application procedures, military selection requirements and admission dates.
