Atiku Hails Justice Nyako For Lifting Senator Natasha’s Suspension

By Sunday Etuka, Abuja

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has applauded Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, for the courage to lift the suspension of the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Alhaji Atiku who gave the commendation via a post on his X handle on Friday, also lauded Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for challenging the illegality of her suspension by not sleeping on her rights in a chamber where women are already vulnerable.

According to him, there’s no price that is too great in asserting one’s rights.

Recall, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 for six months over alleged misconduct and refusal to comply with the chamber’s sitting arrangement during the plenary session on 20th February.

The suspension was announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and was supported by a majority of senators during the plenary.

The red chamber, however, gave a condition that if the embattled Senator submits a written apology, the leadership of the chamber may consider lifting the suspension before the six-month period expires.

However, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, today quashed the six-month suspension that was imposed on her by the Senate.

The Court after imposing N5 million fine on her for contempt, gave the Senate seven days to reinstate her.
